Form, Spirit, and the Space Between

  • 9 Steps

About

In classical Chinese aesthetics, meaning does not arise from form alone. Nor does it come purely from spirit or intention. It emerges in the relationship between them— and in what is deliberately left open. Form, Spirit, and the Space Between is a short, reflective February program designed for a quieter season. It offers five brief video reflections that you can enter in any order, like pavilions in a garden. Together, they explore: - how form can be an act of care rather than constraint - why spirit cannot be designed, only invited - how absence, pauses, and gaps actively shape meaning - what balance looks like when structure and vitality align - how learning to live with the in-between changes the way we move through daily life This is not a course to complete or a framework to apply. There is no required sequence, no exercises, and no expectation of productivity. Instead, the program invites you to slow your attention slightly—to notice how meaning gathers not only in what is present, but in what is restrained, unfinished, or quietly unfolding. The program includes: - Five short video reflections (watch in any order) - One live session, held as a gentle seasonal gathering rather than a lecture This February offering is intentionally light, spacious, and unforced, created to be experienced alongside travel, family, rest, and transition. Not everything needs resolution to be meaningful. Sometimes, what matters most lives in the space between.
