Pang Yawen Post

I love how the garden doesn’t rush to reveal itself. It rewards patience and attention—like a living Chan koan. The garden reflects not only Dong Qichang’s art but his spiritual path—every architectural choice feels like a brushstroke guided by meditation. This series made me think about how often we rush through spaces without ever really seeing them. Zuibaichi reminds us that beauty often waits quietly to be noticed.

Such a great observation, Yawen, and I'm glad the series got you thinking about these things. I totally agree that we rush through spaces so quickly that we don't see them at all. Being in a garden is so soothing partly because it invites the sort of slow attention and engagement that we so often neglect. Zuibaichi really does a great job of turning Dong Qichang's thought into a space for meditation that we can enter into fully – all our sense, our mind, and our spirit.
