About
The Grammar of Harmony explores 和 (hé), one of the most enduring ideas in Chinese thought, and the worldview contained within a word often translated simply as “harmony.” Across five short videos, we move outward from language into music, food, gardens, human relationships, and society, discovering why harmony does not mean sameness or the absence of disagreement. Instead, it offers a way of thinking about how different elements can remain distinct while forming a meaningful whole. The program concludes with a live session, Harmony, Conflict, and the Limits of Agreement, exploring what happens when harmony meets truth, cultural difference, polarization, and values that cannot easily be reconciled.
