The Peach Blossom Path is a reflective video program inspired by Tao Yuanming’s classic text The Land at the End of the Peach Grove (《桃花源记》). Rather than treating the Peach Blossom world as a fantasy of escape, this program approaches it as a discipline of perception—a way of understanding how clarity, refuge, and moral imagination are cultivated, and what it means to return to the world changed by what we have seen. Moving slowly and deliberately, the program follows the arc of the original text: from the hidden entrance, to the moment of sudden illumination, to the problem of return and loss. Along the way, it brings the ancient story into dialogue with Jiangnan garden aesthetics, spatial design, and lived experience in the modern city. Viewers are invited to consider how concealment and revelation shape perception, why utopia in the Chinese imagination is small and easily missed, and how moments of stillness and order function not as destinations, but as orientations.
